Quebec claimed the 2016 Senior Women Canadian Rugby Championship presented by Fuelling Women Champions after a 24-5 win over the Prairie Wolf Pack.
Quebec got tries from Megan Copeland-Dinan (2), Alex Tessier and Afton Maisonneuve. Copeland-Dinan’s second try came in the final minute of the game which gave Quebec the bonus point they needed to claim the title.
“It was a really exciting competition this year,” said Julianne Zussman. “The game was back and forth with high quality rugby. I’m extremely proud of the Quebec girls for the composure we showed on the last play."
In the lone men’s U18 game of the day, British Columbia beat the Atlantic Rock 57-7.
In women’s U18 play, Ontario beat Nova Scotia 33-7.
British Columbia 1 and Alberta will meet in the U16 men’s final after victories over Newfoundland and Ontario 1 respectively, who will now play for bronze on Sunday.
In the women’s U16 semi-finals, the Ontario Storm beat Alberta 22-15 while British Columbia beat New Brunswick 94-0.
