The chase for the 2016 Senior Women’s Canadian Rugby Championships presented by Fuelling Women Champions title is tight as British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec all have two wins from three.
BC opened the day with a 45-7 win over Nova Scotia Keltics as Tyson Beukeboom 2, Laura Crowe-Hutchon , MacKenzie Lee , Jess Neilson , Courtney Sims and Demi Stamatakis all had tries. Neilson kicked five conversions for BC.
Quebec would run in five tries in a 46-24 win over Ontario as Julianne Zussman (2), Megan Copeland-Dinan, Kathleen Keller and Sabrina Poulin touched down with Brianna Miller converting three times and adding five penalties. Ontario got tries from Emma Chown, Daria Keane, Natasha Smith and Ashley Snider with Emily Belchos converting twice.
In U18 men’s action, BC remained unbeaten with a 10-8 victory over Ontario while Quebec fell 24-12 to the Prairie Wolf Pack.
In the women’s division, the Wolf Pack hammered Quebec 58-3 to win its third game of the tournament while Ontario squeaked past BC 24-20.
In the men’s U16 quarterfinals, Newfoundland, Alberta, New Brunswick and Equipe Quebec all advanced to the semi-finals after wins Friday.
Finally, the women’s U16 tournament had an off day but Saturday will see the Ontario Storm play Alberta and BC face New Brunswick in the semi-finals.
