The senior women’s Canadian Rugby Championship is set for kickoff in a week with the top five teams in the country meeting at Fletcher’s Fields in Markham, Ont from August 15-21.
British Columbia, Equipe Quebec, Nova Scotia Keltics, Prairie Wolf Pack and Ontario Storm will compete for the CRC title.
A large number of Canada’s senior women’s test capped players will feature including Andrea Burk, Brittany Waters, Olivia DeMerchant, Alex Tessier, Julianne Zussman, Jane Kirby, DaLeaka Menin and more.
“This competition is important for our program,” Canada’s senior women’s head coach Francois Ratier said. “It's an opportunity for the best players in the country to play against each other and to secure or win a spot with the national Team for our series against Ireland, New Zealand and England this this fall in the UK.”
The competition will also feature the men’s U18 and U16 divisions as well as the women’s U18 and U16 competitions.
Across all five competitions, 29 teams will be in action across seven days of play.
The senior women’s competition will be played in a round-robin format while the other four divisions will see teams battle for gold, silver and bronze in the final day of competition.
